The Ladies Library Association operated a small library in the Ismon House, but soon after found that they needed more space for a proper library. In 1917 voters accepted a bond issue to meet the requirements, which would allow the construction of a Carnegie Foundation library. In 1918 R. A. LeRoy, a Kalamazoo architect, was selected to design the library. Opening day was on Thursday April 31, 1919. ** |
